39th Association- Committee


This page provides the links to let you discover who are the members of the Executive Committee of the 39th Battalion Association; and, how to contact them should you wish to do so. It also allows you to download an Application of Membership of the Association.

The Veterans of the Association are very pleased to welcome membership of those who did not serve in the 39th Battalion but have a common interest with us.

Membership costs $20.00 per annum plus an initial Joining Fee of $15.00 which includes the cost of a name tag (see the Shop for a likeness). All Members have web access to the Association’s newsletter The Good Guts published six times a year and are encouraged to share in various functions held throughout each year.

62 President:  Daryl Clarke was the LTCOL in charge of the Personnel Support Battalion, when in honour of the Legendary WWII 39th Battalion, his Battalion was re-raised as the 39thPSB (since re-named the Operation Support Battalion) by the then Governor General MAJGEN Sir Michael Jeffries on the 08th August 2006. Daryl has been a member since then and now lives with his wife and 2 children in Melbourne. You can contact Daryl HERE
 

Vice President:   Alan Jameson has been a member since about 2000. His father Frank, a veteran of the 39th Bn, passed away in 2006. Alan has served  the Association as Vice President and President and is our first call when Welfare issues arise. Alan was awarded Life Membership in 2011. Contact Alan HERE.

 

Secretary:  Malcolm Owen, was elected to the Committee  few years ago and has been Acting or Relief SecretaryEMAIL him.

 

Treasurer: Alfred Mallia became interested in the 39th after walking “The Track” and has become a leader among us in telling the Battalion story to many other trekking groups. Email Fred HERE.

 

Norman Stockdale first became involved in the Association affairs many years ago when he was courting Merren, the daughter of MAJ Noel Hall OAM ED, Norman accidentally became Secretary in 1999, a role he filled for 12 years along with stints as Treasurer.   Alan “Kanga” Moore, a veteran of the 39th Battalion came onto the Committee about 8 or 9 years ago and has served as presidentEMAIL.
 

GG Editor: Mary Holloway, the daughter of  the late Rev Peter Holloway who served in the 39th as a machine gunner, took over editorship from her father recently. Send an email to Mary HERE.

 

Merren Stockdale who is the daughter of the late MAJ Noel Hall, has been on the committee for quite a few years.  Merren is now the Events Convenor. Contact HERE.
