The 39th Battalion Association is looking for new blood to serve on this hard working committee. It is calling for all members to seriously consider what skills they could offer to honour the memory of a legendary group of men, keep their story alive and assist the few remaining veterans and their widows.

At the Annual General meeting on 15th May all committee positions will be declared vacant, and a new committee elected. The constitution calls for a president, vice president, secretary, treasurer and seven ordinary members. Committee meetings are held monthly on a Tuesday evening and, ideally, will aim for alternating face-to-face or online.

Please consider sharing the load and offering your skills by taking responsibility on the committee for one of the following roles: President, Vice President, Secretary, treasurer, assistant treasurer, membership officer, newsletter editor, memorabilia officer, history advisor, educational advisor, social and events co-ordinator, social media (includes website, Instagram and Facebook), 39th WW1 representative or being the Queensland representative.

Duties include:

President – presides at meetings, represents the Association at events and steers the Association along a smooth path to meet the goals as outlined in the constitution.

Vice President – assists the president

Secretary – deals with all correspondence, calls meetings, sets agendas, maintains minutes, and by law is the public officer.

Treasurer – maintains financial records and presents monthly reports and an annual report, accepts and distributes funds as required.

Assistant Treasurer – assists the treasurer

Membership Officer – maintains electronic membership records, brings new member applications to the committee, regular emails to members.

Newsletter Editor – collects material, collates, arranges printing and distribution of the bimonthly newsletter.

Memorabilia Officer – maintains inventory, sends out postal orders, alerts committee when stock getting low

History Advisor – fields questions of historical nature, directs family members wanting advice.

Educational Advisor – actively pursues ways to tell the story

Social and Events – coordinates all social activities and events, recruits helpers

Social Media – keeps website up to date, posts news items on Facebook and Instagram, news updates via emails to members

39 WW1 Rep – liaises with 39th AIF descendants and the Association

Queensland Rep – the 39th Battalion representative in Queensland
