The Ross Creek Avenue of Honour is 100 years old on 18 August

and on 18 August at 11.00am the locals people are replanting some trees and unveiling a sign for the Avenue and the 20 men who enlisted from the local school.

Two of these are 39th Battalion men;
440, LCpl George Washington Ellsworth, (accidental death, Heath Cemetery, Picardie France), and
20175, Private Gordon Evan Flockhart (RTA June 1918).
The 39th’s banner will be at the dedication.
Ross Creek is between Sebastopol and Smythesdale, just 15 minutes drive out of Ballarat, Vic.”

 

Tim Fitzgerald will be in attendance with the WW1 39th Battalion Banner.

Be mindful that it is the 18th of August outside Ballarat, so if anyone from the association is coming please dress for very cold weather.
