The Kokoda
Walk of Honour

The Official opening of the Kokoda Walk of Honour, was opened some few years ago at the One Tree Hill picnic ground Lord Somers Rd, Tremont VIC 3785.

Some Photos are in the GALLERY. If you also have a great one for display, send it to membership@39battalion.com

The Walk displays panels dedicated to individuals who took part in fighting in PNG. Initially there will be 20 panels on display and at any given time there will be 4 each from the 39th, 2/14 and 2/16 Battalions. The balance will be made up from other Units who fought there.

All panels will be rotated at regular intervals by Life Member Alf Mallia and his wife Bernadette, so the memorial will be always changing.

Click HERE to view a sample panel, or to arrange a panel to honour a soldier, click the button for the Panel Application and payment form below.

For consistency, panels will be like the attachment below. Some historical data sources may vary so check a few for accuracy before completing the application form, link below.

The completed form and a good quality photo should be emailed to the address on the form.

You can search for an individual’s World War Two service details, print a commemorative certificate, provide feedback, and print a permission letter to use a service badge for commemorative purposes.

Best of all are the National Archives, copies of the actual papers from which the information is contained. You may have to request a digital copy be made available, for a small fee, of the individual veteran. Some already have a small drawing of a notepad on the right hand end of the second blue line on the personal record. Just put a name or service number in the search bar on this link National Archive
