Stories from the 81h Division Australian Army Medical Corps under Malaya Command by Carl Johnson

The best and most comprehensive book on the 8th Division. This 576 page, A4 size, case bound book contains the stories from 60 medical men and women who during the time of fighting in Malaya and Singapore tended their wounded comrades and then became POWs with the thousands in Changi and Kranji. It includes the work of the doctors and medical staff as they served with work parties in various places such as on the Burma-Thailand Railway, Japan, Manchuria and in Borneo, where they were involved in the Death Marches. The experiences of the nursing staff are covered. Some escaped from Singapore; others were shipwrecked and massacred in shocking circumstances.
Nominal rolls include about 1800 names, the index has 900 names and there are over 850 photos, maps and tables.
